Because oral health is essential
Because oral health is essential, the World Dental Federation (FDI) has designated March 20th as World Oral Health Day to raise awareness about the importance of oral health care at every stage of life. Good oral health not only enhances daily life quality but also positively impacts both physical and mental well-being.
Oral diseases can be easily prevented by following the 2-2-2 brushing rule and regularly visiting the dentist every six months for oral health check-ups. In Thailand, public health policies are in place to ensure accessible dental care services for all citizens, making it easier for people to prevent and treat oral diseases.
So, what exactly is the 2-2-2 brushing rule?
The 2-2-2 rule is an effective method of brushing that incorporates fluoride to help prevent tooth decay, a practice endorsed by the global dental community. It’s simple to follow:
- 2 times = Brush your teeth at least twice a day, in the morning and before bed, using fluoride toothpaste.
- 2 minutes = Brush for at least two minutes to ensure all teeth and surfaces are cleaned, allowing the fluoride to bind to the tooth enamel for cavity prevention.
- 2 hours = Avoid eating or drinking anything for two hours after brushing to minimize the growth of bacteria in the mouth.
Let’s celebrate World Oral Health Day!
